The Haven

The dictionary definition of a haven is given as a:

 refuge
safe place          place of protection                sanctuary      shelter
asylum                                 retreat              harbour
port             anchorage

This pretty well sums up what we hope the Haven will become for the people at the Top o the Town in Stirling, an area of urban deprivation in the midst of the historical old town beside Stirling castle. Because we believe that God loves them and wants them to experience his forgiveness, healing and restoration.

Looking like the old gospel hall that it is, we hope that a refurbishment programme will enable it to appear open, welcoming and better fitted to playing a part in God's transforming work. That means ensuring the community itself are engaged with the project, because the project is much more than the building; it's about people and journeying with them.  So alongside the building improvement we are exploring ways of getting to know folks in the community, building relationships and identifying ways we can best serve.

Its early days but we are exploring the possibilities of befriending, supporting in the community, primary kids club, and a football team for young guys. But mostly we've been praying. Its been great to see how God is answering opening doors to committees and people groups...... Exciting to see what he is doing in us and around us!
